  1. Hi KGB,

Your blog is so informative and helpful :) I too love Thailand! Although, I've only ever been to Koh Samui and Bangkok. My husband and I are headed back in April 2016. This time round, i though we could do Krabi and go on day trips to the different beaches/islands.

Can you recommend anything? Please. Anything advice would be appreciated :)

  2. I don't see ko tao in your list of Thai travels. Have you ever been to ko tao? Can you compare it with Lipe?

    1. Hi there,
true - I have not been to the 'gulf' coast, only the other side... It all depends on what time of year you travel i.e. monsoon seasons etc so I cannot compare.... - k

  3. Hi Kathy, am loving your travels and have bookmarked many of your pages so far! I wonder if you can throw us some advice?
We are independent travellers usually, road trips round the USA, or exploring in Europe, and like local culture and food, national parks and nature, beaches and snorkelling, driving around and exploring.
This November we will travel to Thailand for 3 whole weeks from the UK.

We don't tend to like cities, but we are told that Bangkok is a must see, and Chiang Mai looks unmissable!

So my rough plan looks like this:
Fri 19 Nov - fly BKK, land Sat. 3 nights Bangkok.

Tue 22 - fly to Chiang Mai - 5 nights

Sun 27 - fly to Phuket.....and this is where I come a little lost. I had thought of splitting the time equally between Ao Nang and Khao Lak. But I see lots of your other little islands added in, and it appeals (although not the slip on the boat ending in a crutch!)

Fri 9 Dec - leave evening, Phuket for midnight flight out of BKK back to London.

Are there any places you can recommend that have off-beach snorkelling, which are not too remote, and not too busy. We love snorkelling but not always wanting to do it as a tour.
Anyway, any help you can offer would be gratefully received :)

  4. Hi Heather,
I don't know of other islands that you can snorkel straight off the beach without needing day trips. Koh Ngai and Kradan aren't that remote really, just need some planning to get to. From Koh Lanta, it's easy enough to get a boat there. We just got back from another trip to Ao Nang, Koh Kradan and also stayed just north of Ao Nang in Klong Muang. As much as we loved Khao Lak, I think I prefer the Krabi and Trang islands. Maybe split your time between Ao Nang, Koh Lanta and one of the other islands. Hope this helps :) - K
